Last week I had the privilege of speaking at The Pointe Church in Belmont, NC. My good friend Ray Hardee planted the church several years ago and still serves as the Senior Pastor. Because Ray and I serve together on the Board of Directors of Charlotte/ONE, a local non-profit, we've struck up a friendship over the past year and I was thrilled when he asked me to come deliver a message to his congregation. I had such an incredible worship experience with them and loved working with their team. The church is in a series called Hurts, Habits and Hang-Ups and is taking a look at the Beatitudes to study what Jesus said about overcoming trials.
Here are a couple of the main points from the message:
God's timing might require you to spend some time priming.
When your outlook changes from "me" to "He", so do your opportunities.
You cannot hunger for righteousness if you are full of yourself.
In a world so focused on personal growth and achievement, I was personally challenged by this message as a young professional. So often I worry and fear about what my future holds for me professionally and if I'm "good enough". I was reminded that when I change my outlook to focus on Christ and not myself, that is when I truly change the opportunities for God to use me.
